The Best Sommelier in the world competition is organized by the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale, a non-profit organization headquartered in Paris. Competition takes place every three years. At least 50 contestants compete. The finalists have to survive demanding practical tests to take the title. This includes a complete series of timed tasks including blind tastings and describing in detail those wines, and identifying eight spirits in three minutes.
